Sunday May 6, 2001

This has not been a week that I want to relive. Let me try and give you a little flavor of what has happened this week and seemed to take any extra time I had for posting here. I am staying up late tonight in order to do this as it is.

Monday night I was on call and did not get home until midnight or a little later as I recall. I was just consistently busy admitting patients and answering phone calls.

Tuesday I was just routinely busy in the office. Having had very little sleep the night before I was tired and knew I had to get up earlier the next day to drive up to Bellevue which would take close to three hours with rush hour traffic. I did not get home from the office until 8 PM and then went to bed around 9:30 as I had to get up at 4:30 the next morning. So, I skipped doing an update.

Wednesday, the meeting in Bellevue, at our corporation's headquarters, went well and actually finished a little ahead of schedule. But, that meant I had to repeat the three hour drive home. In the morning it had been stop and go on the interstate for the last hour of the drive but going home it was only that way about twenty minutes. I missed the real afternoon rush hour but hit the morning one at 7:15 AM. I was exhausted by the time I got home and did not have enough energy to come downstairs and write anything or even check my e-mail.

Thursday brought a big shock. Delanae received an e-mail from her company informing her that they had just closed down their business due to a lack of funding. It seems that the owner was unable to get financing to continue the business but had not warned any of their employees or representatives until Thursday. She is angry and hurt as am I. Their customers and representatives were owed a warning about what was coming but none was given. I know the company is another victim in the dot.com fallout but this one did not warn anybody. We are still trying to decide what to do in the future but this means our planned trip to the midwest this summer is off. We also have a car that is wrapped with the name of that company which we will have to get off the car. The company may pay to have it unwrapped is the latest word we hear and may meet some of their contractual obligations to their reps also. But, their customers are still high and dry.

So, Thursday night was spent discussing a lot of issues and I did not find time again for updating this page. Getting tired of excuses yet?

Friday night, I got home late again due to a long day at the office. Delanae went to a women's meeting at our neighbors' house and I had to look at their son who had fallen off his bike and hit the corner of his eye. He has a scrape there and a large bruise but no damage was done to the eye. He did have his helmet on but this area is below where the helmet comes. Stephen and I watched "Instinct" after I got home. I am not sure why I did not get downstairs to write an update but I did not.

Yesterday we spent outside clearing brush and working on the yard as it was a clear and sunny day. Last night was Stacey's last Youth Symphony concert for this season and it was not over until almost 10 PM. By the time we got home it was almost time to go to bed as we had to be up early this morning for church. So, now you are caught up on my week.

Tomorrow I start a four day stretch as the inpatient physician again. That also means I do not have a day off next week and may have very short updates as well. I will try and write something every day, however. Hope all of you have a great week.
